Have You Received the Gift of Eternal Life?

God wants us to know that we can have eternal life and tells us in His Word, the Bible, how we can receive it. 1 John 5:13 “These things I have written you that you may know you have eternal life.”

The Bible tell us that God is the Holy Creator. Because He is holy, He cannot associate with that which is sinful. Habakkuk 1:13God’s eyes are too pure to approve evil, and He cannot look on wickedness with favor.”

God is also the Perfect Lawgiver and the Just Judge. He has given us a set of moral laws to live by and will judge us according to His laws. Exodus 34:7He will by no means let the guilty go unpunished.” Romans 3:23All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Everyone who has ever lived has sinned. Our sin separates us from God and keeps us from having fellowship with Him. Because of our sin, we deserve punishment from God (eternity separated from Him in Hell) but because of God’s great love for us, He has provided a way for our sin debt to be paid and our fellowship with Him to be restored. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Jesus was God in the form of a man. He lived a perfect life and then paid the penalty for my sin by willingly dying on the cross in my place. He purchased a place for me in heaven which I must receive by faith. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Saving faith is not just knowing about God. It is not going to church, getting baptized, or doing good things for God. True saving faith is admitting that you are a sinner, turning from your sin, and trusting in  Jesus as Lord of your life. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved by faith, and that not of yourself; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Roman 10:9-10 “If you confess your mouth “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

How about you? Have you ever placed your trust in Jesus to save you? Liberty Grove Baptist Church is here to assist you in your journey to faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
